Project Engineers/Managers will probably be from a civil/mechanical engineering background with experience in a contracting organisation; a marine/drilling background and a willingness to travel would be a distinct advantage.

We are also seeking experienced drillers for a range of international drilling projects. Experience in operation and maintenance of ‘Pile Top’ or other marine drilling equipment is preferable.

    Lifting and Handling Business Development and Business Unit Leader

    Negotiable depending on experience.

    Responsible for establishment, development, growth and general management of the Large Diameter Drilling Ltd (LDD) Lifting and Handling Division.  The aim is to become the global market leader in the provision of specialist lifting and handling equipment and services in the Oil and Gas sector as well as other construction and energy related industries (e.g.: marine construction, renewables, nuclear).

    We are looking for a capable New Business Development sales person who has the business acumen to set up and grow a new division of LDD and who will with time become the Division’s General Manager. Initially this is a “hunter” sales role with a view to opening up new market segments, finding, cold-calling and breaking into new potential customers &/or geographies, assessing, qualifying and bringing in new early stage business.  With time other areas of general management will start to dominate time, strategy, planning, CAPEX justification and investment decisions, where upon this person will be expected to hire their replacement.

    Primary Roles & Responsibilities

    1. Meett sales and revenue targets on a monthly and annual basis by actively driving the sales opportunity pipeline:
      1.1. Identify potential market segments and customers within these segments.
      1.2. Develop a market / customer penetration strategy, to efficiently assess the opportunity of the chosen segment and customers within the segment.
      1.3. Prepare and implement cold-calling campaigns to open up access to potential customers.  This is to include: actions and schedules to identify specific targets, how you will get through to them and a projection of the number of contacts to be made.
      1.4. Meet face to face with potential new customers, assess their needs & present the LDD solution.
      1.5. Conduct market analysis for the purpose of developing the lifting and handling business.
      1.6. Develop a team to service the world market as may be required to meet the demands of the business as it grows.
      1.7. Drive the opportunity pipeline and report monthly back to LDD management on the forecast for new business.
      1.8. Qualify sales and overcome objections to sales.
      1.9. Close new profitable business from within the chosen market segments and customers.
      1.10. Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
      1.11. Develop and maintain sales materials with LDD’s marketing department (including a specialist lifting and handling section on the LDD web site).
      1.12. Understand competitor activity, products and pricing strategy.
      1.13. Manage the safe, timely and profitable delivery of orders/contracts, ensuring LDD best interests and client satisfaction are assured.

    2. Develop and maintain a Sales Plan for the L&H business unit. This should give any reader a good instant overview of the customer &/or segment key targets, what the growth strategy is, what projects are in the pipeline and what the next actions are in any sales situation.  With time, develop strategic plan to grow this business unit organically and thru’ acquisitions.

    3.Manage and co-ordinate staff to accomplish required work to deliver sales and provide the accounts dept. with relevant invoicing details, contacts, and necessary assistance to collect outstanding invoices.
