LDD tool up for PNG Jungle

During Q4 of 2009 LDD secured a major contract award  from the Clough Curtain JV (CCJV) for supply of specialist piling equipment and services to support the extensive Esso Highlands (ExxonMobil) Papua New Guinea LNG Project. Contract signature was reached on 24th November 2009 but CCJV and LDD worked together beforehand to allow commencement of critical path tooling and preparation from beginning of October 2009 which included the LDD design and fabrication of a specialist pile top core drilling rig and large diameter under reaming units to compliment the overall package.

Equipment was manufactured and prepared in the UK and shipped on the 18th December 2009 to Singapore for mobilisation on board the Construction barge. Mobilisation in Singapore is on going with sail away to PNG planned for later this month.

Starting on the Upstream Infrastructure Facilities, 2 No. Wharfs and several bridge crossings are to be constructed deep into the PNG Jungle. LDD work scope includes in house supply and operation of all drilling and piling equipment which includes: 3 No. pile-top drill rigs including compressors and pumps, 2 No. S90 Hydraulic impact hammers (through LDD sister company CIS), PTC vibratory hammers, and extensive spares and repair package for operation in the extremely remote locations. Specialist Project Management and Engineering supports the in field work scope. In field piling work is programmed to commence in PNG in February 2010 and run for 8 months.
