LDD supplies a comprehensive range of drilling services either stand alone or as part of comprehensive pile installation services. Our core drilling capability is complemented with grouting services, pile driving and specialist pile lifting and handling tools.

LDD employees have extensive knowledge and experience managing drilling and pile installation projects operating from jack-ups and floating construction plant near and offshore throughout the world. LDD employees are well equipped to provide any level of service from a basic drilling service through to total installation solutions to include all installation plant and equipment and full operations management.

Large Diameter Drilling from 0.5m to 7.0m diameter in virtually all soil and rock types utilising "Air lift" Reverse Circulation Drilling (RCD). For harder rock types, Down-the-Hole (DTH) Hammer reverse circulation drilling can be considered.

LDD drilling services can be applied to all types of pile installations either as the primary method of installation through pile rock socket drilling (drill and grout) or combined driven and drilled pile installation (known as the 3D method: Drive-Drill-Drive) or for project security (pile relief drilling) in the event of early refusal during pile driving.

Drilling systems can be provided for both static/pile top installations and from all types of floating plant using heave compensated systems. Drilling in deep water up to 2000m can be considered.

Pile Top Drilling

LDD standard drilling services are achieved with Pile Top Drilling units. Each drilling unit is designed to suit a range of pile sizes and can be deployed for drilling both vertical and raking piles and other tubular foundations.

DTH (Down-The-Hole) Percussive Hammer Drilling

DTH (Down-The-Hole) Percussive Drilling can be supplied by LDD where rock strength is sufficiently strong that standard rotary drilling becomes sub-economic due to slow production rates.
