Pile Top Drilling

LDD standard drilling services are achieved with Pile Top Drilling units.  Each drilling unit is designed to suit a range of pile sizes and can be deployed for drilling both vertical and raking piles and other tubular foundations.

LDD's fleet of pile top drills accommodate pile and drilling diameters from 0.5m up to 7m in diameter. Larger diameters can be considered and we have experience of drill bits to 8.8m in diameter.

Pile Top Drilling packages range from basic hire (with or without operator) to comprehensive services complete with operators, technicians and full workshop spares container support to ensure total service support and round the clock drilling in remote locations.

Typically, LDD pile top drill rigs are attached to the top of the pile to be drilled or a temporary drill support casing by way of a pneumatic drill base adaptor to suit the pile or casing size being drilled.  The drill base adaptor is secured to the base of the pile top drill before the complete assembly is sleeved over the pile/casing.  With the adaptor sleeve fully located, internal grippers are inflated to secure the drill rig against all drilling loads.

Alternatively, where conditions require, the pile top drill rig can be cantilevered over the side of the construction vessel or suitable moonpool for open string drilling.
