Under-reaming
LDD is a world leader in the design and build of under-reamer assemblies for large diameter reverse circulation drill bits.
Under reamers are used to increase the hole diameter from the main drill bit diameter below pile or casing toes or to produce enlarged sections of the drilled hole.
LDD under reamers are actuated either pneumatically or hydraulically. Hydraulic units utilise either conventional hydraulic oil (biodegradable) or water systems. Our standard systems integrate into our pile top drills with minimum fuss using independent drill string mounted Hydraulic Power Units (HPU).
Under-reamers allow for:
- Drilling to pile outside diameter (or beyond) for removal of hard layers to allow further penetration of pile.
- Additional security in the event of refused piles during driving
- Profiled holes for keying grout into rock socket
LDD can supply under-reaming services to complement our basic drilling packages where requested by the client or can supply bespoke systems on both a rental or sale basis to support client drilling equipment.
