Monopile Buoyant Transfer & Remote Lifting System
LDD can provide full systems for floating transfer of large diameter piles and lifting systems incorporating remote connection to the pile.
Piles are sealed by an upper Pinned Lifting Tool incorporating pnematic sealing unit and a lower sealing bung for floating transfer. Pneumatic seal pressures may be monitored to ensure pressures are maintained, enabling piles to remain floating alongside a quay wall or on offshore moorings for extended periods with confidence. This facility enbles optimistation of the marine spread by reducing the reliance on offshore supply barges and their attendance.
Remote connection to the floating plant is achieved by way of the StabLATCH system, designed for remote connection and lifting of large diameter piles in the marine environment. StabLATCH consists of a "spear" and "catcher". The spear is connected to the crane hook, whilst affording a degree of compensation against pile heave caused by wave movement, whilst the catcher, attached to the pile head is fully gimballed to accommodate pile pitch and role.
With the spear located above the pile, the crane operator can quickly lower the spear to connect to the catcher and then continue to lift the pile from floating horizontally to vertically suupoorted by the crane. The failsafe locking mechanism cannot be released under load but can be easily released once the pile is fully horizontal and floating should the lift need to be aborted or with the pile supported on the seabed by the construction vessel.
