LDD can dramatically reduce your project costs by implementing our Drive-Drill-Drive method; also commonly referred to as the '3D' method. If this method can be applied, 3D can often save our clients significant time and material costs across their marine projects.
The 3D method can significantly increase cost efficiency and minimise risk of delays to your project. The use of this combination of a drill and hammer saves time and cost by negating the use of a temporary casing, grout or concrete and reducing the size, and associated cost, of the piling hammer. Where pile fatigue is a factor, relief drilling inside and below the pre-driven pile will also significantly reduce the ultimate energy required to install the pile to target elevation.
Using this technique, piles are driven to initial set, followed by drilling out the inside of the pile and creating an open socket below the pile toe to target elevation before the pile is re-driven into this socket. In areas of more challenging ground conditions where driving alone is not sufficient, the final re-drive into the open socket can achieve pile penetration to target elevation and meet required pile capacity.
The use of this combination of a drill and hammer can offer to save rental, negating the use of grout or concrete and reducing the size, and associated cost, of the piling hammer. Where pile fatigue is a factor, relief drilling inside and below the pre-driven pile will also significantly reduce the ultimate energy required to install the pile to target elevation.
LDD can also provide under-reaming drill-bits to drill to the outside diameter of the pile in more competent rock strata, to achieve final penetration.
